⚙️ Features & Functionality

Our AI is trained on millions of documents and produces highly accurate summaries that capture the key points of any article. However, we always recommend reviewing the original content for critical decisions. The AI excels at extracting main ideas, key facts, and important conclusions.
Recap Dat works on most text-based web content including news articles, blog posts, research papers, documentation, Wikipedia pages, and more. It works best on content-rich pages with substantial text. Note that it cannot summarize video content, audio, or heavily image-based pages.
Yes! You can adjust the summary length from brief (2-3 key points) to detailed (comprehensive overview) using the slider in the extension settings. This lets you get exactly the level of detail you need for different reading situations.
We offer three summary styles: Bullets - concise bullet points for quick scanning; Paragraph - flowing narrative summary for easier reading; Insights - key takeaways and actionable insights highlighted. You can switch between styles with a single click.

🔒 Privacy & Security

Absolutely. We take privacy seriously. Page content is only processed temporarily to generate summaries and is never permanently stored. We don't track your browsing history or sell your data to third parties. Read our full Privacy Policy for more details.
No. We only access page content when you actively click the extension to request a summary. We don't run in the background, don't track pages you visit, and don't collect any data without your explicit action.
While you can use Recap Dat on any accessible page, we recommend caution with highly sensitive or confidential content. Page content is transmitted securely for processing but, as with any cloud service, consider your organization's data policies before summarizing confidential documents.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

First, try refreshing the page and clicking the extension again. If that doesn't work, try disabling and re-enabling the extension in your browser's extension settings. Make sure your browser is up to date. If problems persist, contact our support team at support@recapdat.com.
Some pages may not work due to: paywalled content, pages requiring login, heavily JavaScript-based content that loads dynamically, PDF documents viewed in browser, or pages with very little text content. Additionally, browser extension stores and system pages are restricted by browser security policies.
Free plan daily limits reset at midnight UTC. If you frequently hit the limit, consider upgrading to our Premium plan for unlimited summaries. Premium also includes faster processing and additional features.
